The Random Scribblings Of A Telly Watcher
About ColeBox
First time here? Here's a good place to start: what ColeBox is about, why is the site called ColeBox and other explainations regarding the site. Questions and answers below:
What Is ColeBox About?
As it states on the Homepage: "My Main hobby is the collecting of vintage and current British Television (of interest), the process of transferring them to different media (e.g. VHS to DVD) and British Television in general. This site features articles on these processes and the set-ups of how I achieve my DVD-Rs, interspersed with some personal opinions and random scribblings about Televison. The approach of this site is as a Video Archivist, an amateur Video Restorer and a Television Watcher."
I enjoy British Television and all its connected paraphanalia and development. I am not in the industry but am just a viewer who wants a place to publicly air a few opinions. Also I have a meagre collection of vintage VHS tapes (commercial and off-air) which I have backed up onto DVD-R; but I am always on the look-out for rare VHS tapes in Charity Shops or on ebay to add to my collection. Why Is The Site Called ColeBox?
ColeBox first appeared as a personal site in 2002 and at the time I chose the name of the site to reflect my name, Cole, and that lots of things can be put into a box. The site was intended to have a little bit of everything. It wasn't until about 2005 that it developed into a Video and TV site.
Oddly enough the "Box" part of the name still applies; being the a slang term for a television. Why Does The Site Keep Changing Its Appearance?
Quite simply I want a site that looks reasonably good but is easy to maintain. With each site change I get another step closer.
You could argue that any previous version looked better but they were more HTML reliant and I have tried to move (self taught) to CSS. As a result the site may change without notice or even month to month.
